UMHB has been using Localist for a little while, and they’re already starting to see the trickle-down benefits of offering a robust social calendar to their students.
They’ve written two wonderful pieces on the subject; the first being a student’s perspective of ”before,” outlining the pitfalls of the calendar system the school used before switching Localist. The second story outlines UMHB’s experience after switching to Localist, and the positive response.
Our favorite quote: “The calendar is an indication of our commitment as a university to be ever improving and to address the needs of our students.”
It’s an important point; the request for a new calendar originally came from the students themselves. The social scene is a huge factor in a student’s higher ed experience, and it’s not like they have a solid base of friends when they arrive as a freshman. They really do look to the school to define the social scene and build friendships from that.
