Meet Laura Simmons, Localist’s new Account Executive. Check out her story below.
I met Localist’s CEO Myke Nahorniak through the DC tech scene shortly after the company relocated to the area from Baltimore. When I heard that Localist was refocusing their efforts in the higher education space, I knew immediately that I wanted to join the team! Not only is the product amazing, but the people and culture here fit exactly what I was looking for.
I worked at three startups in the DC area prior to joining Localist. I’m most proud of my time at Social Tables. As the sixth hire, it was amazing to witness the company grow to over 100 employees. During my three years there, I helped start the higher education sales program, helping almost 300 colleges and universities streamline their event planning process through software. It was during this time that I became passionate about higher education and learning how software can help campus operations.
A Little More About Me
I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia. I love to travel and I try to visit at least one new country every year. When I am at home in DC, you can find me running around the city, going to yoga, or riding my bicycle.
This year I completed my first half marathon. I also enjoy going to farmer’s markets and vintage shops around the city.
