Here are a few things that rolled out recently:

Anyone can now submit a public event to Localist

Tweaked search to yield better results

Fixed many, many, many cosmetic issues

Improved overall readability of various elements

Organized the footer to deliver more content

You can now add your favorite places just by typing them in! Go to the Friends & Places section and click the “Places I Go” tab to check it out.

Changes

Here are a few significant changes we’ve rolled out over the past couple weeks:

Completely redesigned plan creator

Completely redesigned event submission

Tweaked the “Most Popular” lists to be more accurate (finally)

We’ll post a preview of something very special soon…

City Paper's Best of Baltimore 2008

City Paper's Best of Baltimore 2008: The poll is up. What does this mean? Not much. The idea is to stabilize Localist’s back end a bit and hopefully make things a little peppier.

We fixed a few quirks when testing the upgrade, but there might be some more out there. Send an e-mail to info@localist.com if you notice anything funky.

Feature Tweaks, New Developments

We recently rolled out a few things you may be interested in:

When adding a venue to a plan that has an event occurring at it, you now have the option to remove the event and keep the venue.

Improved “popular” algorithms to make the city page listings more accurate

Sped up and improved searching

Coming soon:

Not requiring a person to sign up to RSVP to a plan

Facebook App!

Top Upcoming Events

On the Localist city pages, we split the Top Upcoming Events list to help you plan your social life a bit more in advance.

Now, the first 8 events are the most popular events within the next two weeks. The 6 events after that are the most popular beyond two weeks. This helps give you an idea of what events are heating up before the actual day of the event.

Notification e-mails

Now, when someone sends you a message or leaves you a comment, it can be read in the notification e-mail we send. You won’t have to visit the actual site to read it anymore. Sorry for that annoyance!

What do those colors mean?

If you’ve been wondering why some headers are yellow and others orange, green and red, prepare to be informed. These colors actually represent things! Heh… and you thought they were random.

Yellow = event related
Orange = business related
Red = performer related
Green = people related
Blue/Grey = generic site related

You can see a nice example of these in action by visiting the search page.

We diverge from these rules very rarely, so you can use them to your advantage when looking through Localist.
